Americans Want the Complete Opposite of What We're Doing in Syria

Americans are largely opposed to the idea of attacking Syria, unless it's bombing done in conjunction with allies — and definitely not if it means arming rebels. That first stipulation isn't likely. The second one may have already been broken.
